Visa

Travelers from the following countries must need a visa to enter Malaysia:

• Afghanistan
• Angola
• Bangladesh
• Bhutan
• Botswana
• Burkina Faso
• Cameroon
• Central African Republic
• China (People’s Republic)
• The Congos (ROC & DRC)
• Côte D’Ivoire
• Djibouti
• Equatorial Guinea
• Eritrea
• Ethiopia
• Ghana
• Guinea-Bissau
• India
• Liberia
• Mali
• Myanmar
• Mozambique
• Nepal
• Niger
• Nigeria
• Pakistan
• Rwanda
• Sri Lanka
• Taiwan
• Western Sahara

Business and social visitors staying in Malaysia for less than a month shall not be required to present a visa. However, a visa is required to all British overseas citizens. Nationals from the countries listed above may be given a visa relaxation for not more than five days if they are en route to a third country, provided that:

  • they pass through a Malaysian international airport; and
  • they have a confirmed onward air ticket before arriving.

Nationals from the following countries do not require a visa when staying in Malaysia for up to three months:

  • Algeria

  • Bosnia-Herzegovina
  • Brazil
  • Canada
  • Croatia
  • Cuba
  • Czech Republic
  • Egypt
  • Hungary
  • Iceland

  • Lebanon
  • Liechtenstein

  • Norway

Business and social visitors from European Union countries also don’t need a visa when visiting Malaysia for up to three months (except nationals of Ireland staying for up to two months and those from Greece and Portugal staying for up to one month).

A visa is not required from nationals of Commonwealth of Independent States* (except those from the countries listed above) and all other countries not listed above for stays of up to one month. Those holding a Portuguese Certificate of Identity and Macao Travel Permit as well as nationals of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Palestine, and Syria are not required to present a visa when visiting Malaysia for up to 14 days.

*Commonwealth of Independent States consists of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
